note: my family couldn't make it this weekend, which is why they were here last weekend.
for those of you who don't know... i have a "kind-of" job painting sets in the theatre. which means that im working for credit instead of money.
so this morning i got up at nine and worked for three hours painting a huge muslin backdrop for "arms and the man."
then i went to lunch and ate by myself, because megan had a recruit, craig is gone for the weekend again, and everyone else was with their families. i didn't really mind eating alone. until some dad came over and said "are you eating by yourself because you don't have any friends?" he was trying to be funny but it was just kind of awkward.
so then i went down to the waterfront to help the windsurfing club with their two boats for the cardboard boat races. We apparently have a long tradition of winning. so anyways... what happens is... there are like a bunch of teams (20) and everyone is given a certain amount of plywood, other wood that i don't know the technical name of, plastic sheeting, cardboard, string, and duct tape. we are given three hours (which sounds like forever until you actually have to build a boat...) to construct a boat, like an actual boat that someone sits in.
so Nate and Andrew headed up two different teams. its very technical... lots of measurements and table saws and duct tape. then there are various heats, where people race their boats. anyways, so in the end our boats placed first and fifth overall. which means we won a total of four hundred dollars towards our club. I think we are A. having a party. B. going out to a nice dinner.
Our Hatteras Island trip is next weekend!
Megans mom came and took her to the hospital yesterday. her foot is officially broken, but the cast doctor guy can't see her until monday. so she's been hobbling around with crutches and an ace bandage. good thing we live on the third floor of the most distant residence hall.
cheers!
